Not so long ago, former Slum Village emcee, Elzhi came out to Sydney to do some rapping. He has been getting a bit of a buzz from his Illmatic tribute album Elmatic. Not just your average mixtape, he uses live band Will Sessions to rework the classic Nas instrumentals. Here is a taste of the record, and a video from his show at Tone.
Ok Rodney P is a Boss. Easily one of my fav mc’s ever. If you don’t like the P i don’t like you. This is massive New posse cut from some of the Uk’s finest on a rework of the classic truth and rights riddim…Heaaaavvvvyyyyy
Also some bonus Rodney P tunes because we rule and i’m in such a good mood after watching the above clip.
When you think this video couldn’t get any more awesome the mummy appears. I think I have a new hero. I love the poses he makes every time he says ‘Tell em what I am’. The one at 1:43 seconds is the best. I think I will spend today just practicing that.

Kween G again in take over mode, while I was overseas. P Smurf of Daily Meds and the Big Village Massive popped by the studio. Not wanting to rap on his lonesome, the Kween dropped a verse or two with Mr Smurf. Watch out!
One Day Crew – Horrorshow, Spit Syndicate and Joyride – break out the banjos and other questionable instruments, and get a little Mumford and Julia Stone on us. It wasn’t exactly hood, but we still had a knee slapping good time as the One Dayers play an all acoustic gig. The night included guest spots from Illy, Jane Tyrell, Milan and more. Here is a little glimpse of the One Day hoedown.
That Kween G is a problem. While I was away eating tacos and trying not to get kidnapped by taxi drivers, she was filling in on my show plotting a coup. This is her interview with Kurtis Blow backstage at Tone Nightclub in Sydney, before his performance. Pssssttt… whatever.
Here at Stolen Records we endorse Global Bass and club goodness and of course pointy boots. Check the Vbs tv special for a mildly informative look into why these kids are getting their rave on in oversized pointy boots.
The 3ball sound has been bubbling along in Mexico City and Monterrey for a while with cross over love throughout Mexico. Fronted up by seemingly well known wunderkind Erick Rincon, Rincon and a whole bunch of other young kids are making fun tunes for anyone game enough to play them in the club. Here are some jams on a similar tip I wish I could play out but probably never will.

Also here is an older tune from super talented Melbourne Homie Lewis Can Cut with a remix from Chico Ye. This tune made me start checking for this sound a while back and is definatly club friendly banger.
Basically a really long video for ‘Make Some Noise’, it’s the full length version of ‘Fight For Your Right Revisited’. Featuring an allstar, cast the Beastie Boys of the future challenge the Beastie Boys of the past to a “super fresh old school dance off”. Not quite Thriller, but probably better than Kanye’s efforts. Your thoughts?
Oh and here is ‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win’ with Santigold. It is like ‘Shove It’, but with the Beastie Boys instead of Spank Rock, and not really as good… but still pretty okay.
What do you imagine M.O.P. would sing at karaoke? Aladdin’s ‘A Whole New World’, maybe Lionel Richie ‘Hello’ or possibly ‘Stay’ by Lisa Loeb? Find out when Pharoahe tells of his karaoke experience with the Mash Out Posse, and Jean Grae gives some amazingly sensible relationship advice in part two of our interview with the pair.
More proof that half casts are hotter. This sexy piece of instrument is part french horn, part clarinet and fully amazing. Invented by Adolphe Sax in 1841, the Saxophone was brought into the world to have the projection of a brass instrument with the agility of woodwind, and the ability to overblow at the octave. Oooooohh baby!
Inspired by youtube sensation, Sergio Flores the Sexy Sexophonist Saxogram, we are paying tribute to the Saxophone. This horn has been used to add a bit of sex to military bands, early rock, and jazz, but it wasn’t till the 1980s that the music industry developed a serious sax addiction. Every pop song needed an inappropriate, blaring, over the top sax solo, if only as an after thought during the fade out.
Here is some hot, steamy sax. The hottest and steamiest… perhaps.
Update: It was brought to my attention by one Andrew Quinn, that we missed some of the most seductive sax playing of all time…
Video vixen and Bobby Brown Baby Mama, Alicia Etheridge – one of the hottest saxophone players since ever. Pay close attention to her finger work. Charlie Parker, who?

And when too much sax is barely enough. Here is John Coltrane on the Soprano Saxophone with the jazz equivalent of a tantric sax marathon (Enough with the forced puns already).
