Mixtape mondays week 2, i didn’t flake out. It was kind of a no brainer for me to take one of Paul Nice’s tapes for this week. He has been one of my biggest influences for years. I really miss Sarah’s show on BBC 1xtra. There is so much I still love about that station, but the hip hop offering is just not as diverse and just a little bit too yelly, since Sarah, Excalabar, Rodney P & Skitz had shows. Sarah’s show was the place for me to come to get the update on more traditional hip hop from the UK, and the states without too many explosions and other hoo harr. She even gave me a shout out once. I was super happy as I sat there listening at work.
Even so, Sarah has still been doing her thing. We were lucky enough to have her in on the show for a mix, when she was in Australia just a week or so ago.

I need to get some nail polish remover. It has been more than a week since Love Bombs, and I still have a bright orange pinky nail from where they used nail polish in lieu of a stamp. Goodgod has to be my favourite place to DJ. The right audience for me to play all the different stuff that I really love. First I hear that R. Kelly has written 32 more chapters of Trapped In The Closet, then The Weeknd release another mixtape into the world. Can today get any better? This is the third and final free mixtape from Abel Tesfaye. So far I am loving the Michael Jackson Cover.
I will be honest. We are going to have to get our own soundsystem next time we do this. Great turn out, capacity event, hot people, lots of hip shaking and drunken unruliness, but some problems with sound. With a few more people in the room it was hard to get it loud it enough with out the speakers cutting out.
Even so, it was still an amazing night of Rock N Roll and Soul from the 50s and 60s, and we are going to work hard to make sure the next one is even more swinging.
