The Diplomats! Not to be confused with Dipset. Their music is a little bit less about cooking crack and more to do with the deep feelings one experiences during a relationship. Here is a track that was sampled by Grind Music (LV & Sean C) for The Hitmen to create a Busta Rhymes banger.

U miss me? Yeah I know there has been a big Shantan shaped hole in the heart of Sydney, but I have returned to your radio with a swag of Cumbia, Salsa and other Latin Grooves.
To get it started we also invited one of our favourite DJs to pay tribute to one of our favourite artists. The right honorable DJ Naiki San plays a set of Gil Scott-Heron classics mixed with the Hip Hop artists that sampled him. Rest In Peace!

Willie Hutch! Doesn’t he look good here at Soul Train. Willie was a singer songwriter, but also a producer for Motown working on songs with the Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and also did the soundtracks for ‘Foxy Brown’ and ‘The Mack’. He also had his own fair share of success as a recording artist. This track comes off his 1973 album ‘Full Exposed’ and was nabbed by Three 6 Mafia.

Yeah… umm… I am much more comfortable asking the questions, than having to come up with opinions and stories on demand. Even so, I did have a most pleasant time when I was given the opportunity to appear on Colombian English language radio show Jack Radio broadcast from Medellin’s University of Antioquia.
Run by two upstanding American gentlemen, Jeff and Robin, the show plays a range of amazing music from around the world with a special commitment to showcasing Colombian talent. The show is just one component of their empire, which includes Colombian music, fashion and culture magazine, Jack Magazine, and some darn good parties.
Chickity-Check out this episode of Jack Radio for a bit of Cumbia, Moombahton, Reggaeton, Reggae, Colombian hip hop and myself showcasing some Australian hip hop.
In Colombia cocaine is dirt cheap and abundant. So much so it is more economical to do a line of blow before work, than have your soy latte. So in Medellin when the home team, Atletico Nacional, win the Colombian Football League grand final, all of a sudden these massive bags of coke appear from nowhere and there is a big cocaine fight in the streets to celebrate. People throwing bags of the stuff at each other. Daniel and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Dedicated to comrade and confidant, Sam Simmons on the home stretch of his 24 hour radio marathon on triple j. Will he win a goat or get a goat tattooed on his bum cheek?
There is a lot of rapping out there in the world. Lot of noise being made, but not much of it is actually saying anything. As much as I love meaningless rap, occasionally I wonder where all the story telling and opinionated rappers went? Perhaps with the pressure on emcees to produce endless amounts of albums, mixtapes and throw away blog tunes, there comes a point where you have little else you want to express.
Meet Murs (Born Nick Carter in 1978). He is not of this breed. After releasing more albums than Too Short times E-40 to the power of Elvis, he still has tales and opinions to share in his music. It is when you have meet with him, that you realise that what you hear in his music is an extension of his sizable personality.
For the third time, we had the pleasure of chatting to Murs, this time about marriage, Osama, behind the scenes of the ‘Rock The Bells’ tour, and jumping off the stage mid set to kiss Melbourne lady rapper A-Love in the crowd.
Kween G (KillaQueenz) also joined us in the studio as we initated her into the Stolen Records Uber-Thug Family as she prepares to take over the show while I travel to the jungles of Mexico to join Sub Commandant Marcos and his indigenous rebel army.

Something about her music makes me want to sob about all of my past relationships all at once. For sometime I have been addicted to reggae remixes of Alicia Keys songs, though I am still waiting for somebody to do ‘Unthinkable’. Attention producer folk, get on it.
You know those ratty kids you see hanging around Town Hall Steps speaking in Pig Latin and wearing Air Max, Nautica hats, Sergio Tacchini shirts and Nike shorts. Known as Searchers, Adlays and Lasses, they are kinda like Sydney’s version of Chavs, and you are about to meet their Queen, Her Highness Sky’High. Voted Australia’s number one female emcee on Ozhiphop.com, this gifted young housing commission rapper does not care to speak to mere community radio presenters, but did spit some pretty sweet verses live in the studio. Eshay Lad!
We were also joined by Nadus of the Brick Bandits. Only 19 years old and he has a made a name for himself producing banging Jersey Club jams. He is also a resident of one of the craziest parties since ever – Mad Decent Block Party. We had a talk about stuff and he played some things.

Basically a really long video for ‘Make Some Noise’, it’s the full length version of ‘Fight For Your Right Revisited’. Featuring an allstar, cast the Beastie Boys of the future challenge the Beastie Boys of the past to a “super fresh old school dance off”. Not quite Thriller, but probably better than Kanye’s efforts. Your thoughts?
Oh and here is ‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win’ with Santigold. It is like ‘Shove It’, but with the Beastie Boys instead of Spank Rock, and not really as good… but still pretty okay.
