Before rapping and leading a Michael Jackson karaoke sesh in front of today’s youth at the Enmore, Mac Miller rolled through the FBi Studio for a quick chat and a cypher.
Flanked by an entourage of 6, the Pittsburg MC hit us with a hard hitting interview then rounded it off with an awkward-starting-obsenity-filled freestyle. Don’t believe me? Peep the link below.
We also did a phoner with DJ Shortee Blitz. The KISS FM turntablist is kicking off his Australian tour and showed us a thing or two while providing a dope ass 30min set. That too, is also at the link below.

Love is in the air and with the help of some friends, love was also on the airwaves.
Valentine’s Day isn’t always about expensive dinners, flowers and Al Green. There’s a wealth of hip hop tracks that happen to get some of us in the mood; and some of those tracks are rachet as hell.
Shout out to Australian C-Grade Celebs Kween G, Levins, Jane Tyrell, Joyride, Scott Dooley, Anna Lunoe, Jimblah, Sky’High and Solo (of Horrorshow) who helped us pop a booty shake, sing into a hairbrush and create such a wonderful playlist. And judging from the SMS line and Twitter account our listeners liked the track selection as well.
On top of that we get seriously sexy with Ultramagnetic MC and pioneer of Pornocore, Kool Keith a.k.a. Dr Octogon a.k.a. Dr Dooom a.k.a. Dr Sperm a.k.a. Black Elvis a.k.a. Black Linen a.k.a. Underwear Pissy. It gets a little creepy as Keith picks three of his favourite love songs.
If you missed it and wanna get all close and loved up with your partner, download the podcast below.

Another packed out show at the Enmore full of excitable young hip hop fans, coming out in force to see rising star Mac Miller. Like Kendrick Lamar recently, Mac Miller has been filling up rooms across the country with very little radio support. Hip Hop really seems to be popular at the moment as folks just seem to be more connected with what is popping in music more globally.
The 21 year old rapper from Pittsburgh, has been killing it in the States. Like the Beastie Boys years before him, he just makes hip hop that your average teenager who likes to party and get stoned can relate to. Frat Rap… kinda.
Anyways, Mac Miller’s show at Enmore went off. Great energy. The crowd was so into it, it felt like the place was sold out as the place went bonkers. He also did a heap of covers, including getting everybody to sing Michael Jackson.

Winding through to the end of Dilla Month i only thought it would be appropriate to blog this mix i put up about two weeks back.
This is the first in a three part series of mixes I will be doing to say thanks to easily one of the most talented and forward thinking minds period. Jay Dee single handily changed the way I and I’m sure countless others listen to hip hop and music in general. I was a late appreciator of this man’s genius and after giving myself the time to properly digest alot of Dilla’s music in in my own time on my own terms it was mind blowing realising all the amazing joints he cut solo as well as for some of my favourite groups, it only seemed right to go ahead with this mix. In all honesty I said to myself I would stay away from ever doing a Dilla tape because it has been done so well by so many amazing dj’s and producers but something else told me if this tape gets one more person hyped to delve a Little deeper into his immense back catalogue then it’s all worth it. This mix is basically a bunch of some my first introductions to tracks from Dilla, some classics, some b sides, instrumentals and some remix’s that bump more than the og’s, again it is only a scratch on the surface of this man’s body of work, stay tuned for parts 2 and 3. Please enjoy, pass along and share with friends, fam and appreciators.

EL-P – one of those odd balls kids of the hip hop world. After years of putting out groundbreaking indie hip hop material, it only seems like now EL-P’s music is finding a comfortable place for it’s self in context with what is happening in the indie music scene.
Touring with Laneway Festival, EL-P did an extra show in Sydney at Oxford Art Factory for the hardcore fans. The old Co Flow fans that can mumble along convincingly to every indecipherable EL-P lyric, came out in force.
An amazing show. A whole lot of energy, a lot of jumping around, particularly when he dropped ‘Drones Over BRKLYN’. Oh and supported by Purpose, who was dope!

A night of Latin, Caribbean, and Tropical Bass vibes with not even one ‘Gasolina’ request. Mind blowing.
As Tatlers filled up and the temperature rose, it truly felt like a basement party somewhere in the tropics. With DJs Mike Who, Shantan Wantan Ichiban, Sr. Bolivar & Kato playing a fusion of progressive Latin-Caribbean rhythms and Global Club jams you almost never hear in Australia, it was a little surprising how quickly it turned into a real party with vigorous hip shaking in every corner of the small Kings Cross nightspot.
Look out for the next party in April. The Pineapple Republic is awaiting your return, in the meantime you will have to be satisfied with dancing in your bedroom to the following mix by Mike Who…
Listen: Adele – Rankin In The Deep (Harvey K TEL Remix)
Listen: Quantic and His Combo Barbaro – Mi Canto A Tierra (J Boogie Remix)

Warming up before any night out is key. Especially if you’re warming up for two of the hottest summer events showcasing a mix dancehall, latin heat and tropical bass – complete with plenty of ass-shaking, grinding, dizzy footwork and dutty wining. Gappy Ranks and Radio Maleme rolled through today and lawd, did they ever show us how to get a dancefloor moving.
Gracing the Australian shores from London, Gappy came at us 110% with a solid interview and a bashment live performance. Melbourne’s RU-CL came in strong with support and hey, during their performance my hips in the studio weren’t the only ones gyrating.
Radio Maleme representing part of the Pineapple Republic, finished the show with a spicy, caliente, tropcial latin heat. Rapid BPM’s, soulful singing and the perfect mix had people calling far and wide wondering who the heck is blowing up the airwaves and where did we get him from. His name is Sr Bolivar and he is from Colombia, folks. That’s right COLOMBIA. Knowing his stuff, Sr Bolivar provided the perfect preview for next week’s Pineapple Republic – a night you will not want to miss.
Want to know more? Of course you do.
