That Kween G is a problem. While I was away eating tacos and trying not to get kidnapped by taxi drivers, she was filling in on my show plotting a coup. This is her interview with Kurtis Blow backstage at Tone Nightclub in Sydney, before his performance. Pssssttt… whatever.
Kurtis Blow is coming to our fine city this Thursday night to do a one-off intimate show at the one and only Tone. This tour marks the 30th anniversary tour of “THE BREAKS” and is the first time in over ten years since Kurtis has thrown down in Australia. Also on the night is the supremely talented duo Paper Plane Project doing their thing LIVE. Dj duties see’s Sydney Dons on the wheels; Gian Arpino, Naiki, Kato and myself. Expect Classic Hip Hop jams, disco rap goodness, boogie and original uncut funk breaks. Good peeps and vibes galore guaranteed. Jump on the presale tickets pronto. At only 25 bones they are getting snapped up fast.
Because we are special and rule we have a free double pass for the first person to email the artist who sampled the Blow tune below to vic@genericcollective.com.
And here is a banger from the Paper Plane Project homies feat Raashan Ahmad.
As another treat here is a cool edit of the breaks that I play on the regular…
