Pancakes, The Hoods, J Dilla. Some of the things we talk about with the Pharoahe. We thought we would re-up this on the blog, since Mr Monch is in town for a wee Australian tour.
Hotter than a steering wheel in the summer, Mike Who puts together a soundtrack for the more tepid months.

Jean is a pretty good rapper. She also makes awesome interview talent. No talking about what was your first hip hop album here. We get straight into ‘Why cyphers are wack, poisoning boyfriends, baking, selling flatmates on craig’s list, getting Josie Styles kicked off 2SER and taking people down to Chinatown’. If you only check out one interview on this blog, definitely listen to this one I did on Jean’s last trip to the country earlier this year.
Jean also makes music. This is what it sounds like…

“Damn, shorty! Yo momma so fly, she should be a pilot.”
The Astronomical Kid ain’t playing and he don’t like your eyes, your lines and just because he’s a shorty don’t mean he won’t do no harm. Yo, y’all need to just stop looking at his moms!
Naww, but really how cute is he? He’s just trying to protect his beautiful mother… sigh…
Hip hop heart throbs, Horrorshow join us in the studio for some light conversation and to perform an acoustic rendition of Estelle’s American Boy. Jack Prest is also back in the house. He gives us a mini mix later in the show. Plus a whole bunch of tunes hotter than a steering wheel in the summer. Jungle, hip hop and funk goodness!

Did you miss me? We have been a little quiet over here as I made a last minute decision to head over to Japan for a rather bizarre sort of a trip. Not strange in the same way as the video above, but a totally different variety of bizarreness. I would like it very much to tell you the details, but I am saving it for the memoirs, neatly filed under crazy things one does for… hmmm… Onigiri.
It’s like when Mickey Rooney puts on the buckteeth and angry eyebrows for Breakfast at Tiffany’s or when they dress up a bunch of Pueto Rican’s in feathers for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York, Timbaland thinks that he can enlist Bhangra vocalist Raje Shwari and we wouldn’t notice that the flute that he is singing about is not actually Indian, but in fact Colombian. Racist.
The super hot, Fantine performs a live solo rendition of ‘Super Sweet’. A song which she originally featured on with Space Invadas’ (Steve Spacek and Katalyst). Look out for a new EP from Fantine coming out very soon. Hot dam!

Our neighbours must think us rather strange. One moment it is Project Pat, then Surf Rock, UK Funky, The Strokes, some old soul, SWV and now my flatmate has been pumping Bollywood through our apartment block. The track above is the gem he is addicted to.
Oh so… FBi 94.5 FM, a Sydney radio station that we do a show at is drawing to the end of it’s supporter drive. The theme this year is Instant Karma, and if you heard our show on Wednesday you would have heard us getting into the spirit with a big mix of Bhangra. If you are a regular listener and have been considering signing up, now is the time to do it with so many prizes up for grabs. Head to the fbiradio.com fore more details.
