I’m bored at work so here are some freeloads i have been feeling, annoying people with and playing too much lately. Wish i could play stuff like this out over here, tried the other day and cleared the dancefloor instantly. Woo, cool story.
Have you ever wondered what River Dance meets Dancehall Reggae sounds like? How about Gaelic Hip Hop? It’s St Paddy’s Day and I thought we would celebrate our Irish heritage with music.
We also get our gangsta boogie on with a massive set of West Coast hip hop. Plus Joyride comes in to perform a Kelis with the Neptunes Cover, ahead of the Player Haters Ball.
If you are not yet formally acquainted allow me to introduce you to Levins and Captain Franco. Levin’s is your favourite DJs, favourite Australian DJ. If not for his musical selections, definitely for his kangaroo burgers and fine hospitality. Meanwhile, Franco is the DJ of choice for all those untouchably, hot hipster girls that look like they fell out of one of your wank fantasies.
Together with the help of Spruce Lee they do a hip hop night called Halfway Crooks. It earns both the disparagement and envy of ‘true school’ hip hop heads. It is one of the few good hip hop parties in Sydney, which is a ‘party’ and there is a possibility you may go home with a female with all her own teeth.
They have started a new podcast called the Hip Hoptimist. It is basically them giving their review of the latest rap albums, and talking copious amounts of shit. Alternatively, I could just hang out at The Dip or Heaps Decent for this sort of conversation, but today I chose to download it. If they cyphered at the end of each of these episodes I would be a regular listener.
Here they give their two cents on Lil Wanye, Ferrari Boyz, Jay-Z & Kanye, and The Games latest works.
Tunes from the bay are heavily slept on over here, everybody gives me weird looks when i play Oakland classics, maybe that’s cause it’s Sydney right?. Here are some of my favourite jams to count my non existent Skrilla too..
Shout outs to Ology for putting me onto this dude the other week. Have been enjoying it so much i thought i would share some tunes. I bugged out at first on how much he sounded like Ghostface, but quickly got over that when i checked the Shiraz video below and had a good chuckle. Don’t Sleep!
