She was a troubled girl, but there has always been something I have admired about her rugged charm, brash sense of humour and honesty, which comes out with such feeling in her music. We got a lot of good feedback from this mix, so here it is in all it’s separate glory. It includes some Amy Winehouse classics, some remixes, plus some of the tracks she sampled and covered. Rest in peace Amy.

The second single from Common’s new album The Dreamer, The Believer due out November 22. It seems like Common has come full circle and is working again with Chicago producer No I.D., who worked on a some of his earlier releases. Maybe I am the only one, but I just wish he would take it back a little further and start rapping with the squeal in his voice again. Remember those days in hip hop history, when everybody had to have a little gimmick in their flow (Ala Das Efx)?

One of my biggest regrets in life next to not making it as an Astronaut or being a world famous thumb wrestling champion, is missing Little Dragon when they played an intimate gig at Sydney’s Good God Small Club. I have been following them for a while, and I don’t think as big as they are now, I will ever get a chance to see them like that again.

Rest In Peace Aaliyah…

My gosh! Songs like these were just so ahead of their time. I grew up with Aaliyah. I had a little R&B/Hip Hop song that we had written to the Back N Forth Instrumental, and used to perform at Under 18 Parties way back in the days.

Aaliyah would be my age now, and was always a celebrity crush of mine. Today it is 10 years since she was lost to the world. Rest in Peace.
