So many haters. I was expecting it to be quiet on such a cold miserable night, but somehow we squeezed 500 people into that backroom of Goodgod. Chalk it up as another victory for R&B over everything.

The second Pop That was an even bigger party than the first – with Levins, Shantan and special guest Sampology all playing a mix of rap and exciting club sounds.
The crowd warmed up to Shantan’s wild cub remixes of new rap and and r&b, lost their minds to Sampology’s set which featured everything from juke, dancehall and trap, then danced as the sun rose and Levins finished the night with a mix of all things mellow.
Pop That will return later in the year with more DJs pushing an eclectic mix of club sounds. Stay tuned!
I wanted to leave this mix to post towards the end of the year to have some sort of grand finale or retrospective mix of the year  post, but i got impatient and wanted to share with anyone who hasn’t checked it yet. Soul Sisters Stand Up, is a mind blowing mix put together over the course of two years by two of the most legit dj’s worldwide, The Gaff and Skratch Bastid. These two dons of the turntables pay tribute to the female soul, funk and Rnb vocalists of the 60’s nd 70’s the right way. This mixtape is done proper,  real mixing, tight blends, tidy cuts, tasteful doubles and littered with original sample sources. There isn’t really much more i can say to get you to download this mix, easily one of the most hyped tapes of the year and with due respect. Download, share with crew, kiss me later.
Today Mixtape Mondays  gets a little nostalgic. I decided to post Dj Moto’s Club Joint 3.5  all the way back  from 1999. Moto recently put this up on his page and memories flooded back. First things first before 90’s/2000’s Rnb/hip hop anthem sets were staple in every sydney club and before fools with popped collars requested “old school music”, Moto and the club joint fam did this all, over ten years before with wax and more flare and skills than the majority of sydney dj’s would dream of having.  Even though in high school i was nerding out on golden era 90’s boom bap these tapes blew me away and jiggy was inescapable back then. I remember stealing the club joint cd’s from my sisters older friends cars and trying to figure out how they rocked doubles. I also remember all the lawsuits with the club joint mix c.d’s and how they built their brand off those tapes. I’m sure purists will hate but but anyone that can make tapes with Beyonce/Ras kass/ Mariah and Nore in the same ten mins work have my props. These dudes all  had/ still have serious skills and played good tunes as well as jiggy stuff. Download this, go to Moto’s page and look for any other club joint tapes while your at it. Respect.

The first one was technically a sell out. Well it would have been if we didn’t keep letting people in. This one should be just as big as our resident R&B coverband Joyride & The Accidents, will be sharing the stage with Alphamama.
We paid tribute to R Kelly at the first ball, this time expect a mix of classic and new R&B jams being performed by these two amazing soul outfits. Oh and maybe a couple of originals thrown in.
That is not all folks. Spinning hip hop and R&B on the night are DJs Levins, Shantan Wantan Ichiban and Joyride. You know this is going to be a proper party just before the Christmas break.
