Kurtis Blow – The Breaks (Dublex Inc Edit)

Kurtis Blow is coming to our fine city this Thursday night to do a one-off intimate show at the one and only Tone. This tour marks the 30^th anniversary tour of “THE BREAKS” and is the first time in over ten years since Kurtis has thrown down in Australia. Also on the night is the supremely talented duo Paper Plane Project doing their thing LIVE. Dj duties see’s Sydney Dons on the wheels; Gian Arpino, Naiki, Kato and myself. Expect Classic Hip Hop jams, disco rap goodness, boogie and original uncut funk breaks. Good peeps and vibes galore guaranteed. Jump on the presale tickets pronto. At only 25 bones they are getting snapped up fast.

Because we are special and rule we have a free double pass for the first person to email the artist who sampled the Blow tune below to vic@genericcollective.com.

Diggin’ in the Crates Vol.2

So our homies at Main ingredients have brought back the second installment of their Diggin in the crates parties, with New Zealand’s finest P-Money headlining the night and repping Roc a Fella. It’s a cool concept for a night where dj’s are asked to rep a label. It’s always good fun to dig into the vaults of labels that we all no and love to find the playable jems. I thought it would make sense to rep Tommy boy on the night as i remember always buying doubles of Tommy Boy 12’s pre digital era takeover. Also on the night local boss Dj’s Ology (Rawkus), Toni toni lee (Cash Money), And LinoType (Loud), i heard Lino is getting deported so this may be your last chance to see this super talented LA native do his thing in Sydney. So If your looking for something good to do this this Friday night come to Good God Small club and throw shapes!

Here at Stolen Records we endorse Global Bass and club goodness and of course pointy boots. Check the Vbs tv special for a mildly informative look into why these kids are getting their rave on in oversized pointy boots.

The 3ball sound has been bubbling along in Mexico City and Monterrey for a while with cross over love throughout Mexico. Fronted up by seemingly well known wunderkind Erick Rincon, Rincon and a whole bunch of other young kids are making fun tunes for anyone game enough to play them in the club. Here are some jams on a similar tip I wish I could play out but probably never will.

Known as Searchers, Adlays and Lasses, they are kinda like Sydney’s version of Chavs, and you are about to meet their Queen, Her Highness Sky’High. Voted Australia’s number one female emcee on Ozhiphop.com, this gifted young housing commission rapper does not care to speak to mere community radio presenters, but did spit some pretty sweet verses live in the studio. Eshay Lad!

We were also joined by Nadus of the Brick Bandits. Only 19 years old and he has a made a name for himself producing banging Jersey Club jams. He is also a resident of one of the craziest parties since ever – Mad Decent Block Party. We had a talk about stuff and he played some things.
