Photos: Wu-Tang Clan live at the Enmore Theatre

It is funny when the hip hop show descends into a not so private party on stage, which u had the misfortune of witnessing. A bunch of girls dancing badly with old men. Hurry up and end it please, so that we can all go home.

All and all though, it was a good show. On a Thursday evening at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, the Wu-Tang formed together like Voltron, they just happened to be missing an arm and a leg. Though even with Rza, Meth and ODB absent, the Wu is still a force to be reckoned with. Ghostface alone has the force of 100 emcees when he explodes on the microphone. Plus it’s hard to go wrong with classic tracks for days.

Young Dirty Bastard though? I am just not sure. I understand he is carrying on the legacy, but it just seems a little funny making a career impersonating your father.

Diggin’ in the Crates Vol.2

So our homies at Main ingredients have brought back the second installment of their Diggin in the crates parties, with New Zealand’s finest P-Money headlining the night and repping Roc a Fella. It’s a cool concept for a night where dj’s are asked to rep a label. It’s always good fun to dig into the vaults of labels that we all no and love to find the playable jems. I thought it would make sense to rep Tommy boy on the night as i remember always buying doubles of Tommy Boy 12’s pre digital era takeover. Also on the night local boss Dj’s Ology (Rawkus), Toni toni lee (Cash Money), And LinoType (Loud), i heard Lino is getting deported so this may be your last chance to see this super talented LA native do his thing in Sydney.  So If your looking for something good to do this this Friday night come to Good God Small club and throw shapes!

Here are some jams from the Tommy Boy vaults for you that i will definatly be playing Friday night.

The Wildside Tour – The Tongue + Spit Syndicate

In a year where hip hop has just about smashed it – not referring to the ridiculous 2011 Good Vibes lineup – our Aussie talents are also getting amongst it. We speak of The Wildside Tour bringing The Tongue and Spit Syndicate to your locals.

The Tongue’s new album, Alternative Energy has just dropped and featured as Album of the Week on FBi, 2SER and Austereo’s Radar Radio. The Tongue will be joined by DJ Skoob (3x NSW DMC Champion) and DJ Joyride – both of the highest turntabular standard.

Spit Syndicate are also headlining following a spectacular year following their second album Exile. This comes after supporting Horrorshow, their own Starry Eyed Tour and soon-to-be supporting Cypress Hill throughout the end of this month.

Good Vibrations Line Up 2011 – Nas & Damian Marley, Phoenix, Ludacris, Kelis, Erykah Badu, Cee-Lo, Rusko, Janelle Monae tour Australia

I know a few of my DJ friends like to hate on Good Vibrations for various reasons, but of the major festivals they have always had a good line up of acts for folks that enjoy their hip hop and soul roots in general.

Over the years, I have some nice memories of seeing a range of artists like Talib Kweli and Jean Grae, Estelle (before American Boy), Lee Scratch Perry & The Mad Professor, DJ Marky, Soul II Soul and Q-Tip. To bigger names like Kayne West, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes who just murdered it last year.

However, this line up is possibly the best ever. I for one am really looking forward to this. Hopefully we can hook up some interviews.

Line Up:
Faithless
Phoenix
Sasha
Nas & Damian Marley
Cee Lo Green
Kelis
Ludacris
Erykah Badu
Friendly Fires
Miike Snow
