In the 10 years that FBi 94.5 FM has been on air it has been making a huge contribution to making Sydney a better place to live in. It has been given huge support to exciting new music nobody else has been playing, and has also been the hub for many people that are opening businesses and putting on events that are enriching our city.
To celebrate we decided to put on a party. Not just any party. Possibly one of the best festivals in Sydney since ever. By the railroad in Chippendale, Carriage Works turned out to be a beautiful setting for a party. The crowd was a really good looking laid back bunch of people. And the line up was an amazing collection of friends of our station.
Here are some pictures mostly from the Hip Hop stage where the likes of Urthboy, Spit Syndicate, Joyride, Thundamentals, Kataylst, Big Village Family, Citizen Kay, Naughty Rappers Collective, Mike Who and me – Shantan Wantan Ichiban – peformed. Fun times.
It never rains it pours. So much happening on this show. Mike Who returns after being in Chile for a year. Spit Syndicate do one of their best live performances on the show to date. We talk rugby and 4 Loko adventures with Smoke Dza, then he totally kills it on a Biggie instrumental. All of this smack bang in the middle of supporter drive.
It is not too late to sign up as a member of the station. Not only will you be keeping great music on the airwaves, you will be supporting a station that has played a big part in improving the culture of this city. Around this station their has been a community of artists, djs, promoters and other awesome folk, putting on great events, collaborating, generally doing great stuff and making Sydney a better place to live. This station has been a vital part of that.

Little bit late to the party on this one, but for anyone that hasn’t yet copped this, do it. We really don’t post enough Australian Hip Hop considering where based in Sydney. This mix is all class from one of the countries dons of the 1’s and 2’s.
I really need to get a copy of the first freestyles Just and Lupi did on the radio back when we did a late night show. They were two really hungry, talented high school kids that we got in to spit, while their parents wait to pick them up afterwards. Though that first tape, ‘The Future Is Bright’ is still hella dope, they have come a long way. Here is their latest, still rapping about graff, food and broads. Big love.
My photoshop skills just keep getting better. This Sunday I am soundclashing Hau a.k.a. Hauie Beast (Koolism/triple j hip hop show) in a Euro trance showdown. Plus one of the best rappers to have never release anything, Sonny Syah will be performing earlier on. He just plays live, because releasing music is for sell outs. Be-lee-dat!
Also here are some tracks from Sonny’s unreleased, unfinished album ‘The Envelope: An Audio Motion Picture’. He plays different characters in a story of an Envelope that changes hands. I don’t think it will ever be released, so I might as well put up a couple of tracks here.
One Day Crew – Horrorshow, Spit Syndicate and Joyride – break out the banjos and other questionable instruments, and get a little Mumford and Julia Stone on us. It wasn’t exactly hood, but we still had a knee slapping good time as the One Dayers play an all acoustic gig. The night included guest spots from Illy, Jane Tyrell, Milan and more. Here is a little glimpse of the One Day hoedown.
Getting our groove on with some R&B classics. Spit Syndicate, The Tongue and Don Joyride get their freestyle on. DJ Abilities plays some riggity rap music!

We were hoping it would be like 50 Cent vs Kanye when both Spit Syndicate and Ozi Batla released albums on the same day in May. We had to address the rumours that one of them would retire if they don’t out sell the other and also got into a little discussion about Spit Syndicate’s new free food escapades.
We highly recommend that you check out their latest work Exile. You can purchase a copy on iTunes. Also make sure you check out Ozi Batla’s album Wild Colonial
Also for great culinary recommendations visit Nick Lupi’s food blog – All You Can Eat
We are planning to start cloudcasting the show, when we feel it is a little less bodgy than normal. Here is a show from a week ago with Spit Syndicate talking and rapping, DJ Joyride playing a set, a big dancehall section and a special dedication to all the mums. I love you mum. Just click to listen.
