Really going to try and make Mixtape Mondays a reality now that i am on regular nightshifts over here. Every Monday i plan to post a new mix i have been feeling, or a nostalgic jem from the past. Freeloads will obviously join in for the fun. Being self indulgent i thought i would kick things off with a new mix i finished a week back for Sydney don Shan Frenzie’s radio show Groove Therapy. I hate this mix because i spent too long finishing it, but you might not. The mix runs through a bunch of different tunes old and new and a few of my own cheeky edits thrown in. Enjoy!
Break out your Cross Colours, Malcolm X caps and your mustard Keppers because this Saturday we are doing a party at Goodgod that will be just like the Blue Light Discos of your youth, just without the Bombers trying to steal your Reebok Pumps.
Big DJ line up playing 90s and 80s R&B/Hip Hop Hits. Plus there will be a running man competition where you can win this signed* photo of Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez.
On top of that best dressed on the night wins this Hamper including West Coast Cooler and Passion Pop.
To get you warmed up here is a mix from DJ Yelo Magic…

Over the last week i somehow managed talk a hostel owner in chile to give me a job. I don’t really do that much, answer a few phone calls, respond to some emails and talk shit to other tourists about my wealth of knowledge on shoestring travel in South America. Long story short i sit on the internet generally being unproductive. So in the spirit of productivity i’m sharing some tunes that i have been playing too much today.
Little bit late to the party on this one, but for anyone that hasn’t yet copped this, do it. We really don’t post enough Australian Hip Hop considering where based in Sydney. This mix is all class from one of the countries dons of the 1’s and 2’s.
Gorilla Zoo Riddim lock alert. I made a cheeky edit of Gorilla Zoo’s tune, Hood Nigga a few days back, here it is in all it’s glory plus the original and a few other remixes and blends that are way better than mine. Woo
Wow can’t believe i was so late to jump on this especially considering i have a bunch of homies representing. Amazing peek into some of Sydney’s finest up and coming and established beatmakers. Big love to Well dressed vandals for making it happen. IM stay up. Free download here. Ghetto Ambience Summer 2012
Here are a few other jems from some crew on this compilation.
There is no real reason for this post other than sharing a few tunes that have been on heavy rotation in my household of late. Nothing uber new, just a few tunes that i slept on and have rediscovered recently. Enjoy.
I have known Jeremi Jackson aka Twich for longer than most people in my lifetime. Over the years we have hung out and bumped into each other through mutal friends and one thing has always remained constant, Twich constantly pushing his production, bubbling away in the depths of his studio like a mad professor, his sound getting more and more polished with each new track i hear. I rarely give advice but get to know about this dude, he has already worked with some of the finest from the states and Australian audiences have been sleeping for too long. Download a few jems off Twich’s Synethesia Mixtape and check the two clips below for some homegrown heat produced by the man himself.
