A few years back Buenos Aires Label/club night and Artist agency ZZK provided me with my first taste into the relms of Digital Cumbia. As a label ZZK have continually pushed forward thinking Global bass and tropical vibes. Their Roster is on point and if i do say so myself their artwork is always impressive. The roots of ZZK lie in South America but their sound has spread throughout the world undoubtly influencing global bass and electronic producers worldwide. I’m really hoping i get the chance to check one of the much hyped Zizek club nights when i roll through Buenos Aires later in the year. Do yourselves a favour and get familiar with the label here ZZK.
Here are some tunes/remixes from a variety of the ZZK roster that have been staples for me. I’m going to have to start a club night when i make it back to Sydney so i can one day get a chance to play some of these tunes louder than my shitty home stereo.
I didn’t do much this show, just sat back and let it be consumed in the chaos. I handed over the first half of the show to some of New York’s finest hip hop artists Jean Grae, Mr Len & Mela Machinko. I give them a whole lot of rope and they use it to hang me.
Oh and after being really really mean, Jean also does me a favour and interviews Pete Rock.
Then in the second half of the show, it becomes more like a London pirate radio show as UK hip hop/grime crew Foreign Beggars takeover with Los Angeles dubstep producer 12th Planet and Israeli producer/dj/rapper Borgore.
I need to get some nail polish remover. It has been more than a week since Love Bombs, and I still have a bright orange pinky nail from where they used nail polish in lieu of a stamp. On the rooftop at Sweeney’s Love Bombs is the only place to be on Boxing Day. It is a group of friends getting together to play hip hop, r&b, soul, boogie, and a bit of house, all afternoon long and into the night.

Jean Grae has been one of the artists that has been the most fun to talk to. Without fail, really entertaining and hence the reason we are letting her take over Stolen Records this Wednesday.
She just released this song to the interwebs. It is going to be on ‘Cake or Death’… I think. Is this album ever coming out?
Goodgod has to be my favourite place to DJ. The right audience for me to play all the different stuff that I really love. I am playing in the front room with for New Years Eve from midnight till close. This will be the place to go if you want to dance like crazy to awesome shit. First I hear that R. Kelly has written 32 more chapters of Trapped In The Closet, then The Weeknd release another mixtape into the world. Can today get any better? This is the third and final free mixtape from Abel Tesfaye. So far I am loving the Michael Jackson Cover.
I stumbled across the mix from Pipomixes. He has a blog all about mixtapes and good music which you should check here pipomixes.com his tapes are always killer and come highly recommended from me. Anyway the concept of this one is based on the music in Quentin Tarantino’s films which i can safely say is always on the money.
