Shots Shots Shots! Here are a few shots of Jean Grae, Mr Len and Mela when they ran amok on my radio show a week or so ago. You should really listen as the play everything from LMFAO to Jane’s Addiction, interview Pete Rock and are really mean to my poor mum… bastards!
We have a backlog of these portraits taken in our make shift studio set up in the FBi parking lot. After an awesome interview and freestyle session, Outerspace and Jedi Mind Tricks (minus Vinnie Paz) posed for these pictures. Just one shot each, and it was perfect.

I have memories of listening to Paparazzi on rotation on my walkman sharing a headphone with a mate, while we drank in the park. As a long time fan of Xzibit, it totally took me by suprise when he started working with Dre and Eminem and began to blow up on a more commercial level. Now better know for modifying cars than hip hop, Xzibit recently toured Australia hitting every two horse town on the map. Here are some photos from Sydney.

I will be honest. We are going to have to get our own soundsystem next time we do this. Great turn out, capacity event, hot people, lots of hip shaking and drunken unruliness, but some problems with sound. With a few more people in the room it was hard to get it loud it enough with out the speakers cutting out.
Even so, it was still an amazing night of Rock N Roll and Soul from the 50s and 60s, and we are going to work hard to make sure the next one is even more swinging.
I didn’t think they made dirty songs like these in the 1950s. I thought married couples slept in seperate beds and you would get stoned in the town square talking like this.
I am there trying to work out if the ‘Drill Daddy Drill’ song is just innocent, until I hear the line “set up your drill in the middle of my field” and “If the well runs dry we will use another hole”. It reminds me so much of Lil Wayne’s “Miss Officer” and R. Kelly “The Zoo”. Take a bad metaphor and just keep those shamelessly terrible puns coming.
I am going to be playing a set of more XXX 50s Rock jams at our Rock N Roll and Soul party, Mashed Potato, this Friday at Hollywood Hotel. Here are some awkward photos of people dancing by Dear Pluto’s Emma Daniels.

Giving Jenny Craig a run for their money. It was like if Zumba had a cousin on crack. We are calling it Zumbaton. It is the latest sweaty dance work out, which we tested out at Goodgod for Badonkadonk.
Except for me, who was just playing the same old cheese that I always do, it was a night where DJs got to play stuff they never do anywhere else. Mike Who was going deep on the latin, cumbia, moombahton party vibes. Levin’s was having fun not playing hip hop for once. And Kato was just going ill.
I hope you burned some calories and had a good time doing it.
Taken by the amazing Robin Hearfield, these are shots of Blue Mountains hip hop crew Thundamentals. Rather pleasant chaps. We talked about all manner of things and then they performed a song. You should listen to it below…
I said to her I would just take a few, but found it hard to leave any out. You may know her as a triple j newsreader, she also takes some pretty sweet photos. These are shots from her time in New York earlier this year. See the rest of the gallery and more awesomeness on her site.
In it’s first year, Musica is a smaller scale festival at Darling Harbour’s Tumbalong Park with a really cool line up. Maybe a little to cool to draw a massive festival crowd, it was a refreshingly, easy going, dickhead free day of good music. Rather than fighting crowds of sweaty muscle bound boofheads, dividing your time between 7 stages of the same old acts, Musica was just one stage of smaller amazing new artists. Perfect sunny weather for enjoying the likes of SBTRKT, Lunice, Ghostpoet, Baths, Electic Wire Hustle, Mitzi, Bon Chat Bon Rat, Tiger & Woods and Simon Caldwell. Brilliant day. Let’s hope it becomes a regular fixture in the festival calendar.

I keep hearing about random hook ups that happened at the Player Haters Ball. I think that is the mark of a good party. A very attractive, mixed crowd flocked to Good God Small Club for a night of Joyride and The Accidents playing R&B covers with a couple of originals, while Levins and I spin jams. Technically it was a sell out, but we kept letting people in. A hot, sweaty, drunken night of partying. Here are some photos from around 3:30am.
