It’s been a while in between drinks for me and a terradome set on the show. We have been crazy busy with all the awsome guests we have had in so that is my excuse. Here is a mix i did a while back now on the show, It has a bunch of different tunes, Some Dancehall, Hip hop, Digital Cumbia vibes and some future beat biz. Shantan put it up on the Stolen Records soundcloud, and added a bunch of drops from some of those mentioned awsome guests. Here it is plus some freeloads from the mix. Enjoy. More mixes from me here. The second single from Common’s new album The Dreamer, The Believer due out November 22. It seems like Common has come full circle and is working again with Chicago producer No I.D., who worked on a some of his earlier releases. Maybe I am the only one, but I just wish he would take it back a little further and start rapping with the squeal in his voice again. Remember those days in hip hop history, when everybody had to have a little gimmick in their flow (Ala Das Efx)?
I hosted the DOOM show when he was out here not so long ago. We were told we had to clear the stage area when DOOM came, and we couldn’t look him in the eye or talk to him unless he talked to us. It was like he was Prince, but not nearly as famous.
I thought it would be really funny if I came out on stage earlier wearing a mask and pretend to be a DOOMPOSTER. So I went up to Oxford St and bought this feathery sequenced butterfly mask and came out on stage like “Yo this is DOOM, I lost my old mask in customs, this is my new look, son”. Don’t think anybody else found it that amusing.
Anyways, DJ Naiki plays a set of DOOM tracks mixed with the original samples. Listen for all that Madvillain, King Geedorah, Metal Face goodness.
Also we get raunchy with The Tongue. Talking about his new mixtape – Sex Tape.

Not so long ago, former Slum Village emcee, Elzhi came out to Sydney to do some rapping. He has been getting a bit of a buzz from his Illmatic tribute album Elmatic. Not just your average mixtape, he uses live band Will Sessions to rework the classic Nas instrumentals. Here is a taste of the record, and a video from his show at Tone.

In the part of town you come for shitty tourist pubs and Korean karaoke, hidden away in the Spanish Quarter of Sydney is Good God Small Club. A venue I frequent regularly, and find myself getting into various types of trouble a little too often. Once La Campana an old Spanish Salsatech/Restaurant, it was taken over by Jimmy Sing and Hana Shimada one year ago. To celebrate they threw three big parties over the long weekend. These are photos from their Bashment Jam with a massive line up including the UK’s biggest dancehall artist Gappy Ranks alongside Hoops, Guerre, Toni Toni Lee, Kween G & Bad Ezzy, Levins, Kato, Huggz, Max Gosford, Firehouse and more. Gappy Ranks totally merked it, despite the fact his DJ didn’t know how to use CDJs or Serato. Fortunately, Mike was there to save the day.
Got a taste for something a little heavier? London producer/DJ Joker has been out here, drinking chai tea, hitting the gym with A-Trak and playing table tennis with Benga. Besides that he also been doing a bit of DJing on the musical traveling circus Parklife. Here is a mix to get you hyped for the remanding cities on the tour – Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney.

Listen: Die & Interface – Bright Lights ft William Cartwright (Rockers Remix) | Buy Me
My Friday just got 300 percent better stumbling across this Christmas mix by Lowbee on soundcloud. There will be haters as yes this mix is hella soft and has heaps of shit cheesy songs. But and i say But listen it’s Killer…It’s a journey through an “endless sea of gentle grooves” as LowBee puts it and anyone willing to make a tape like this is funny and awsome. For anyone that doesn’t know Lowbee, aka Lowbeezy the other half of the now infamous Hollertronix crew with Diplo and all round Dope Philly Party DJ get familiar with some of his other more serious and club vibes here..Lowbee
P.s Shantan don’t hate me for posting this.
Here are Two of my Favourite jams off the mix Freeloads..woooo.
I really need to get a copy of the first freestyles Just and Lupi did on the radio back when we did a late night show. They were two really hungry, talented high school kids that we got in to spit, while their parents wait to pick them up afterwards. Though that first tape, ‘The Future Is Bright’ is still hella dope, they have come a long way. Here is their latest, still rapping about graff, food and broads. Big love.
Oi blood! This weeks show was heavy. London Producer/DJ genius, Joker takes time out from hitting the gym with Benga and A-Trak to play a mix for our show. Out here for Parklife, Joker totally killed it in Melbourne and Perth. Tonight he gave us a taste of what you may expect from him in Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney.
In addition, we are joined by Burn City’s 360. Just ahead of the release of his album ‘Flying & Falling’, we talked a little about the release, battling close friend Anecdote and the rapper tag phenomenon.
Also lots of music… This is a show not to be listened to on shitty laptop speakers. Hook it up to a system and play it loud.
